Response to Literature

Though I have only spent one day in Ms. Amezcua's class, I have already learned something I believe would benefit me and my writing in the future! On friday, I learned that there was a certain structure in the way you should write a response to literature paragraph. I have always thought that you could just write it in any order you want as long as you get your point across, but this structure would hopefully keep your thoughts organized and also you would in a way make sure you have all the information you need to present by using it. On the other hand, something that I have never known before that I learned was that you should only include one quote in your paragraph. In all the response to lit. writings, I have thought that you should try to present as much evidence as possible so it would be valid so that was an interesting point I learned.

  1. You're right! this is why responses to literature extend to three body paragraphs. You have to explain your evidence; yoju cannot assume that people know why you chose the quote and why it supports your thesis. If you list tons of evidence, you have to explain each one! Thats why it's appropriate, or more manageable, to use one quote per paragraph!

Excellent post thanks for starting this conversation!
