Final Salute

You meet many different people throughout your life. Maybe not always to the point in which you know them so well that you'd be crushed if you ever lost them. But no matter what, losing someone who has had an impact in your life, no matter how big or small that may be, is never an easy thing to deal with. Final Salute by Jim Sheeler is an article about a fallen marine and how the ones who loved and cared about him dealt with it. The story behind the curtains is quite touching. The marine who died in the article was Jim Cathey. His loss affected the lives of people, and the pain his loved ones felt must've been excruciating. And even though "'You can almost see the blood run out of their body and their heart hit the floor. It's not blood as much as their soul. Something sinks. I've never seen that except when someone dies. And I've seen a lot of death'" (Sheeler 4). That quote from Major Steve Beck really makes us think. What if he shows up at your door?
